Iran and Philippine agreement on seafarers’ recognition
Saeed Izadyan, PMO deputy of marine affairs, signed a memorandum of agreement with Marianito D. Roque, Philippines’ Labor and Employment Secretary, in Manila which provides recognition of the Filipino seafarers’ certificates of competencies.
According to PMO public relations, signing this agreement, the Government has already signed memorandum of seafarer identification with 21 other countries.
It should be mentioned that pursuant to Regulation 1/10 of the STCW Convention, the parties can exchange seafarers with maritime certifications.
Philippines have trained 240 thousands of seafarers and holds more than 30 percent of world’s seafarers. International employment of these seafarers has a great impact on its economy. This is the 45th agreement of Philippines with other countries in order to identify certification of Filipino seafarers.
