An Italian Company to Invest in Iran’s Ports

Cooperation and participation of an Italian company for investment and development of Iranian ports was discussed during the Iranian delegation visit to Italy

PMO News Portal - Mohammad Rastad, the managing director of the Ports and Maritime Organization, accompanied by Iranian delegation visited the managers of Contship Italia Group at the Port of La Spezia in Italy.

In this meeting, the executives of Contship Italia Group presented a comprehensive report on the capability, international investment and communications status of the company.

During this meeting with the managing director of the Ports and Maritime Organization, the Italian company executives called for the development of cooperation with Iranian ports and emphasized that the company is eagerly looking for an opportunity to invest or engage with Iranian companies.

Port of La Spezia is a port in La Spezia, Liguria, Italy. The port of La Spezia is one of the largest commercial ports in the Ligurian Sea, and is located in the northernmost part of the Gulf of La Spezia. Its development dates from the late nineteenth century and has since grown to become one of the main ports of the Mediterranean Sea, specializing in container handling in particular.

Contship, “Container Shipping”, is specialized in maritime transport and, in particular, container transport. By the end of the Nineties, Contship was a global company with services running to South America, the Pacific, sub-continental Australia and the Middle East. One of its subsidiaries, Contship Italia, had been active in La Spezia since 1971 where it ran the first Italian private container terminal.
