The Azerbaijani delegation comes to Iran to investigate the potential and capacity of the northern ports of the country. Within 4 days, the ports of Gilan and Mazandaran province and Amirabad port will be visited.

PMO News Portal - Azerbaijani delegation came to Iran at the invitation of Mr. Mohammad Rastad, the managing director of the Ports and Maritime Organization to visit the northern ports of Iran.

The Azerbaijani delegation will get acquainted with the operational capabilities and development capacities of the ports in a joint meeting with the managers of the ports and authorities of Gilan and Mazandaran provinces and the special economic zone of Amirabad.

The Azerbaijani delegation is visiting the northern ports of Iran to expand cooperation and increase trade between the two countries.

According to the General Directorate of Agreements and Market Development, the Azerbaijani delegation will be familiarized with the development capacities and operational capabilities of Iranian ports on the Caspian coast during the 4-day visit to Iran.

According to the report, the maritime and port section of Azerbaijan has a great history in the field of construction and development of docks.

The Azerbaijan ports and maritime high-ranking authorities visit of Iran is taking place while the Convention on the legal status of the Caspian Sea has recently been signed by the Presidents of the 5 littoral countries.

In Azerbaijan, there are five active ports and terminals of Baku, Hovsan, Divbendi, Sangachal and Alat. According to the Azerbaijan’s development plan, the capacity of the ports of Azerbaijan will reach to 59 million tons by the end of 2018 and 76 million tons by 2020.
