PMO News Portal – During the visit of Ismatullah Irgashiyev,
Special Representative of the President of Uzbekistan, Deputy of ports and
maritime office of Sistan and Baluchestan province stated that The development
of the first phase of Chabahar has been largely due to its transportation
capacity for CIS countries and Afghanistan. Chabahar, as a port with access to
Oman Sea, could be a good route for the transfer, transit and export of
Uzbekistan's rich mineral resources and cotton. Chabahar is also a safe and
convenient route for India-Uzbekistan trade to reach $ 2 billion a year.
He also added that The Chabahar port especial location and
its proximity to the main shipping routes, have made Chabahar a safe and
convenient port for Central Asian countries, especially Uzbekistan. The
Chabahar port is the cheapest and shortest route for connecting Central Asian
countries and Uzbekistan to free waters.
Seyed Hasan Ebrahimi also expressed that loading and unloading
goods and warehousing at Chabahar port are subject to a 30-80% discount compared
to other Iranian ports.
