Iran-Australia to Extend Joint Ports and Maritime Cooperation

PMO News Portal – Australia’s ambassador to Iran, while visiting largest commercial port of Iran, at a joint meeting with the Director General of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Hormozgan province, discussed the status of international ties between Iran and Australia, and got familiar with the capacities and capabilities of Shahid Rajaee port.

Mr. Biggs expressed his intention of having this trip to Hormozgan province as observing the commercial, maritime and free and special economic zones capacities of the province. He also stated that the region provides a great opportunity to boost cooperation between Iran and Australia

AllahMorad Afifipour, director general of Ports and Maritime Affairs of Hormozgan, said that Shaid Rajaee port has already had connection with 80 international ports around the world. Currently, the 3rd phase of the container terminal development plan at Shahid Rajaee port is being carried out and within 3 years, the capacity of the largest commercial port of Iran will increase to 8 million TEUs.
