Correspondence with IMO and ITF following US threats against five Iranian tankers

PMO News Portal - Following the US government's hostile threat against five Iranian tankers heading to Venezuela in recent days, the Iranian seafarers syndicate has made contacts with international unions and organizations, including the International Maritime Organization (IMO), the International Transport Federation and various unions, including the Union of Brazil and Venezuela, on the raised issue which threatened the safety of seafarers, said the Secretary of the Iranian seafarers syndicate.

He continued: Safe seafaring is the right of all seafarers in the world, and trade between Iran and Venezuela is not even contrary to US sanctions.

In the correspondence, while emphasizing the observance of safe maritime rights for all seafarers, we expressed great concern over the hostile threat to the safety of sailors and crews of five Iranian tankers.
